Accommodations in Penrith near Dalemain House (Penrith, United Kingdom)

Dalemain House (Penrith, United Kingdom)

Although there has been a dwelling on the site since Saxon times, the current Georgian facade of Dalemain is an extension to the Tudor and Medieval manor house that pre-dated it. The frontage was built in the 1740s to enclose an inner courtyard. Inside the house, the Tudor period is represented by narrow passageways, plaster ceilings and oak panelling. The Chinese Room retains its handpainted wallpaper from the Georgian period. The tea room and restaurant occupy the fifteenth century manor hall. There are exhibitions of ceramics, dolls houses and portraits throughout the house. The estate has a range of landscaped gardens and riverside walks, a model farm and a deer park. A series of special events are hosted at the house throughout the year. There is an estate shop which sells garden plants and local grown and home cooked produce. Opening hours: Summer (daily) Gardens and tea room: 10:30 am - 5pm House: 11am - 4pm Winter (Sunday - Thursday) Gardens and tea room: 11am - 4pm Admission Adult: £6.50 (House and gardens); £4.50 (Gardens) Child: Free
