The Emerald Pool is a popular destination for cruise ship visitors to Dominica. It is located in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, 3.5 miles northeast of Pont Casse on the road to Rosalie. There is an entrance fee to the trail, which is well marked and easily accessible. The trail meanders though the rain forest and has handholds and steps cut out where necessary. Vantage points along the trail offer views along the valleys and towards the river and pool. The trail into the pool itself is only improved slightly, in an effort to keep the natural ambience, so care must be taken when walking on it. A 30ft tall small waterfall splashes into the pool from the stream above. The water is clear, not muddy, as the water flows along a rocky stream bed. The trail continues back to the visitors centre and there are shelters along the way in case you get caught in a shower of rain. Emerald Pool gets its name from the lush green surroundings which are reflected in the pool.
