Flamborough Head (Flamborough, United Kingdom)

Flamborough Head is a rocky headland on the east coast of Yorkshire. It covers an extensive area between the South Landing and Thornwick Bay to the North. Most visitors park at the Lighthouse, which is situated at the most easterly point of the headland. Another popular area of interest on the peninsula is Danes Dyke, an area of ancient woodland and the site of an old Saxon settlement. The modern lighthouse was built in 1806 but there is also a much older lighthouse here known as the Chalk Tower that dates from 1669. Access is free but the car parks are ‘pay and display’ at peak periods. There is a regular bus service to the lighthouse from Bridlington and Flamborough village.
