The Discovery Centre at Great Notley Country Park is the visitor centre and also entrance for all those who arrive with the car. The centre offers a variety of sports and leisure facilities for visitors of all ages, it features a cafe, exhibition and meeting rooms and tries to raise awareness how physical and mental health can influence our behaviour and understanding towards our planet. The award wining centre features its own wind turbine which contributes towards the electricity that is necessary to run the centre.Rainwater is used to operate its showers and toilets and the building was designed with the use of sustainable materials and techniques. Activities that can be found directly at and around the Discovery Centre include bicycle rental, several sport fields for football, basket ball and tennis, several play areas, fitness trails, a climbing wall and more. The country park that surrounds the centre features more than 100 acres of open park land which provide a safe habitat for a rich variety of wildlife. Apart from walking trails you can find a number of meadows, 6 lakes and an open air amphitheatre in the park. The entrance to Discovery Centre and the Country Park is free, parking facilities are available at the centre against a small fee.
