Historic Train Station (Braidwood, USA)

Braidwood has been home to a train depot since February 1875 but this original depot, as well as its successor, has been destroyed and needed to be replaced. The building which can be visited today dates back to 1882. The timber structure houses an office and waiting rooms and is open to the public although it is not in use as a train station anymore. It’s current owner, a supermarket chain, has given the historic depot to the town as a gift and plans to move the building are under way. The Braidwood depot is located along the Route 66 and one of the sights from which you will pass if following the Historic Route 66 tour.
