Imhoff-Schokoladenmuseum (Cologne, Germany)

This museum provides an opportunity to discover the history of chocolate, from the food of the gods in the Aztec world, to its commercial importance today. The three floors trace its development, cocoa farming, production methods and modern marketing, including “cult” products like the Lindt Bunny. Also available are guided tours and workshops. There is a gift shop and restaurant, both of which can be visited without visiting the museum. The idea was conceived and financed by a locally born chocolate maker, Hans Imhoff, who rejuvenated the Stollwerck chocolate company. When the factory moved elsewhere he transformed the previous building into the museum. It is on the bank of the Rhine and also provides a venue for corporate and entertainment events. There is disabled access. For opening times and entrance fees check the website.
