Der Kemptener Jazzfrühling findet jedes Jahr in der Woche um den 1. Mai statt. Eröffnet wird die musikalische Woche am Samstag vor dem 1. Mai. Dann bauen Jazzbands an verschiedenen öffentlichen Standorten in der Innenstadt - meist vor diversen Kaufhäusern, Geschäften und auf dem Rathausplatz - ihr Equipment auf und spielen kostenlos vor Musikliebhabern, Jazzfreunden, Einkaufsbummler und Spaziergängern. In der folgenden Woche treten die Jazzmusiker dann in den jeweiligen Clubs, Restaurants und Hallen in Kempten und Umgebung auf.
