Noordhoek Beach is an 8-km long beach of fine white sand in a pristine bay along South Africaโs Western Cape. Located only 25 minutes from Cape Townโs city center, this wide Atlantic beach is bounded in the north by Chapmanโs Peak and the village of Noordhoek (Dutch, โnorth cornerโ) and extends southward to the Kommetjie lighthouse. It is bounded on the east by the Chapmanโs Peak scenic drive, which in turn adjoins a national park. Noordhoek Beachโs proximity to a national park has helped to keep it well protected and undeveloped. It is a popular venue for beachcombing, parasailing/kiting, horseback riding, and sunbathing. A nearby wetland conservation area gives visitors a range of natural outdoor options to pursue within the immediate vicinity. Hiking trails are plentiful through the wetlands and along the upper edge of the beach. The rural surroundings also offer bed-and-breakfast accommodations to visitors who prefer the intimacy of the countryside to that of busy city hotels. Stables and riding schools are available for those seeking a mount for the day.
