Lough Tay (Greystones, Ireland)

Lough Tay is a small lake in the Wicklow mountains, part of the Guinness estate. The Cloghoge river flows into it and then out to Lough Dan further south. It lies about 5km from Sally Gap, one of the passes through the mountains. The road to Sally Gap runs above the Lough giving a view down on to it. At one end there is a strip of very white sand which combines with the dark waters of the Lough to give the impression of a glass of Guinness. The 1981 film Excalibur was shot round here, with Lough Tay featuring as the lake where Perceval threw Excalibur.
