Accommodations in The Hague near Madurodam (The Hague, Netherlands)

Madurodam (The Hague, Netherlands)

The Madurodam is the smallest city in the Netherlands, with a scale of 1:25. This “miniature Netherlands” amusement park has been open since 1952, representing urban and rural scenes with animated elements. Open daily from 9am to 6pm in the winter months, and from 9am to 11pm in the summer holidays, it’ll cost you €14,50 for an adult and €10.50 for children between 3 and 11 years of age. Pensioners pay €13.50 and children under 2 enter for free. You’ll be given a route guide which is available in 13 languages. Imagined by Mrs. Boon-van der Starp, and financed by Mr. and Mrs. Maduro, as a monument in commemoration of their son, it was designed by the architect S.J. Bouma. Its design is still the same as in 1952, only it expanded in 1996. In 2003, Schiphol airport was completely renovated with a new induction technique enabling the planes to move about using a magnetic field, mini computers and rechargeable batteries. This renovation took almost two and half years. Madurodam manufacture all the models, which need regular maintenance and the bonsai’s are regularly trimmed to maintain a scale of 1:25 or 60cm maximum.
