Metro Sofia (Sofia, Bulgaria)

The underground in Sofia was constructed to connect the city centre with the residential areas of Lyulin and Obeliya. These are two resiential quarters that are quite far from the centre of Sofia, so the underground train system makes it easier for the people who live there to get to work. This also made possible new living places to be built and those living areas become very desirable to live in. The underground trains run regularly in intervals of 3 to 10 minutes. The first train starts at 5.30 and the last one is just before midnight. On some holidays and special days, the trains operate around the clock. Recently, the underground has had new stations that connect the city centre with the living quarters of Mladost enabling people to travel from one end of Sofia to the other in less than 20 minutes.
