Parque Padre Hurtado in Santiago covers an area of 500,000 m² and is one of the largest parks in Chile. It was originally called the Queen Intercommunal Park but was renamed in honour of Father Alberto Hurtado. The park is a popular meeting place for people of all ages and there are several designated barbecue areas. It is popular with dog walkers, joggers and cyclists. It also plays host to regular cultural events and shows throughout the year. The park is open daily from 8.30am until 6.30pm except Monday, when it is closed for maintenance. A small admission fee is payable at the gate, which is slightly higher at weekends. Vehicles can also enter the park at weekends. Admission fees are Tuesday to Thursday -100 Pesos per person (0.15 Euros) Friday to Sunday - 300 Pesos per person (0.45 Euros) Vehicles (including up to 5 people) - 3,500 Pesos (5 Euros)
