Pythagoreion and Heraion of Samos (Ireon, Greece)

Listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, the Heraion are the ruins of a temple dedicated to Hera and dating from approximately 8BC. Only one column has remained standing and a statue from the site can be viewed at the Samos Archaeological Museum. Another statue, discovered in 1879, is housed in the Louvre and studies by the German Archaeological Institute are still in progress.
