Queen Victoria Park (Niagara Falls, Canada)

Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls is located along the Niagara River’s Great Gorge, extending from just below the Rainbow Bridge, past the falls of the Niagara, and ending near the Dufferin Islands. It consists of a series of lawns, fountains, ponds, and gardens–including a rock garden, a tea rose garden, and numerous seasonal bedding displays. Well-established trees and shrubs provide shade in summer and a network of branches for collecting the frozen mist of the falls in winter. The park’s main feature is its walkway along the rim of the Niagara Gorge, allowing visitors to view both the American and the Canadian falls. The walkway includes stone walls along the steep banks of the gorge, telescopes to allow closer views, and benches. During the warmer months the walkway is accented by beds of flowers and hanging baskets. Queen Victoria Park is operated by the Niagara Parks Commission. Four visitor centres serve the park during the summer season, and the Parks Police station is open year round. Admission is free.
