Accommodations in Niagara Falls near Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls, Canada)

Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls, Canada)

The Rainbow Bridge is a steel arch structure over the Niagara River connecting Niagara Falls, Ontario with Niagara Falls, New York. The bridge was designed by architect Richard (Su Min) Lee and is administered by both Canada and the United States through a joint commission. In Ontario, the bridge is part of Highway 420. In New York, it is officially designated as NY 955A and leads to state routes 104 and 384 as well as US Route 62. Visitors crossing the Rainbow Bridge should expect to pay a toll and proceed through an international border checkpoint. These facilities are located at either end of the bridge, leaving the central span free for relatively unobstructed views of the Niagara Gorge and its falls. The view immediately to the southwest includes the American Falls. On the Canadian side, the bridge plaza includes the 165-foot Rainbow Tower, which in turn shelters a carillon that is sounded four times daily the year around.
