The Reina Sofia museum is Madrid’s main gallery offering 20th Century art exhibits, mostly by Spanish artists. It is probably most famous as the home of Picasso’s massive work, Guernica and has many works by both Picasso and Dali, as well as collections including Miro and Tapies. Non-Spanish art includes pieces by Man Ray, Tanguy, Lipchitz, Braque and Bacon. The main museum building used to be a hospital. The museum is close to the Atocha railway and Metro station and to the Prado museum The Museum is closed on Tuesdays. On Sundays is opens from 10.00 o 14.30 and on all other opening days, the hours are from 10.00 to 21.00. Admission prices are €6 for adults and €3 for concessions (e.g. holders of the Youth Card, students, members of cultural groups etc) and free for Under-18s, over 65s, and many other groups linked to the museum or other museums - please check the website for details).
