The Rocky Mountain National Wildlife Refuge is open for visitors Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Other times are available for scheduled events (reservations required) or for group requested tours. The visitor center is open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Permitted activities are hiking, wildlife viewing and seasonal fishing. It is required that while hiking one stays on the established paths. Prohibited are pets, firearms and alcoholic beverages. There are several established trails for hiking. One warning, when hiking near prairie dog town be mindful of the presence of rattlesnakes. Admittance is free. There are activities that require reservations but are also free. These include the two hour bus wildlife tour including a pre tour lecture or the use of a photography blind. Fishing requires a $3 fee, a Colorado fishing license and a one time orientation to refuge rules and regulations.
