The Royal West of England Academy of Art is situated on Queen’s Road, Clifton, in Bristol. It is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday through to Saturday, and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday. Admission charges apply, but there are concessions and entry is free for children under 16. The main entrance offers disabled access and there is a lift to the first floor and the basement. The academy has a permanent collection of works and also hosts special exhibitions. Events such as lectures, talks, workshops and art history day schools are held on a regular basis. Once a month on a Saturday morning there is a Scribble and Sketch Drawing Drop-in for all ages. The Bristol Drawing School organises courses and workshops at the academy for both adults and children. Items such as prints, books and cards are on sale on the ground floor. The Papadeli cafe is located on the ground floor and serves tapas, cakes and drinks. The main galleries, including the balcony, are available for private hire after 6pm. The Fedden Gallery may be hired during the day and has audiovisual equipment.
