The Sea Castle at Sidon is perched on a small island in the harbour to which it is linked by a causeway. It was built by the Crusaders in 1228, but after the fall of Acre to the Muslims in 1291 all the sea castles, including this one, were destroyed to prevent the Crusaders regaining a foothold. All that remains today are two towers and a connecting wall. Visitors can climb to the top of the towers from where there is a fine view of the city.
