The Sofia’s University St. Kliment Ohridski is the oldest high school in Bulgaria. It was founded on the 1st of October 1888 with a decree of the Parliament. The central part of the building was possible due to the donations of the brothers – Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi. Their sculptures are on both sides of the main entrance of the building. One of the main boulevards next to the University is called Evlogi Geogiev. The building is in the baroque style. The construction was partly damaged during the World War II bomb attacks but after that was restored. The first students were just 43 men. At present about 25,000 students have passed their higher degrees here. The first department was the Historical but now there are 16 different departments.
