The Tempodrom is a multipurpose building located in a park area in the centre of Berlin city. The popular Potsdamer Platz is just a few minutes walk from this famous tourist sight. The building was designed by the architectural team Gerkan, Marg und Partner (gmp Büro) and opened in 2001 for the European Film Awards official ceremony. The building comprises of 2 halls, roof terrace, several bars, eateries, including a restaurant, plenty of souvenir shops and a large foyer. The main hall of Tempodrom is the Grand Arena – a multipurpose circular hall with large stage for shows. Due to its functional design, Grand Arena can easily be transformed from a classic concert hall into a congress hall, a gala banquet room or a TV studio, a sports or trade show facility. The other hall is the Small Arena, which is also circular in shape but has only 350 seats and offers a more intimate atmosphere. This smaller hall is well suited for concerts, readings, theatre performances, presentations and press conferences. There is a parking facility available for bicycles and disabled guests only.
