The Burrell Collection (Glasgow, United Kingdom)

This museum is the Art collection of Sir William Burrell, donated to the City of Glasgow in 1944, which was housed in a purpose-built museum on Pollok Estate, another donation. The museum opened in 1983, with Pollok Country Park as a setting. Comprising 9 000 works of art, the collection covers diverse eras and locations, from ancient China, Greece or Rome to medieval art and works by Degas and Cézanne. A number of architectural features that form part of the collection (such as arches or stained-glass windows) have been integrated into the fabric of the building. There are also temporary exhibitions and other events at various times. Entry is free and the museum is wheelchair accessible. It is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm except Fridays and Sundays when opening hours are 11 am to 5 pm. There is a cafe within the museum and a pay-and-display car park is available for visitors.
