Known as the emblem of Genoa, the lighthouse is located on the edge of a rocky outcrop. Erected in 1543, the lighthouse has a 77m meter tower set atop a 40m high rock so that the height above sea-level is 117m. The light can be seen from over 33 miles away.There are 365 steps to the top of the tower but visitors can just go up 172 steps to the first terrace. As well as the lighthouse there is a museum and a promenade. The lighthouse and museum are open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is €6 for adults, €4 for children from 7 to 14 and free to children under 7 years old.
