The Rose Church of the Holy Mother of God (Belgrade, Serbia)

Construite juste à côté de la source de Sainte Petka, ainsi que de la chapelle qui lui est consacrée, il n’est pas possible de déterminer quand exactement l’église de la Sainte Vierge fut construite. Il est par contre considéré qu’il s’agît de la plus ancienne église belgradoise, et une légende stipule que ce fut une femme au nom de Ruzica (lire Rujitsa) qui la fit construire, d’où son nom populaire. Etant donné sa position, au pied de la Zindan Kapija, où se trouvait jadis une caserne, l’église servait surtout aux soldats à l’époque, et une plaque mémoriale, placée sur un de ses murs au moment de sa reconstruction le rappelle également. L’église est ouverte tous les jours et librement visitable. Il est néanmoins conseillé de le faire en dehors des liturgies. Il est également demandé que les visiteurs soient décemment habillés.
