Der Bahnhof München-Ost ist der dritte der Münchner Fernbahnhöfe und gleichzeitig auch der kleinste. Nachdem die Optimolwerke zu einer Kultfabrik umgebaut wurden, ist der Bahnhof München-Ost zentraler Treffpunkt an den Wochenenden. Der Bahnhof wurde 1871 eröffnet und 1876 in Bahnhof München-Ost umbenannt. Rechtzeitig zur Olympiade wurde der S-Bahn Verkehr in Betrieb genommen. Die S-Bahn verkehrt in diesem Bereich obererdig. Seit 1988 verfügt der Bahnhof München-Ost auch über einen eigenständigen U-Bahnhof. Vor dem Bahnhof auf dem Orleanssplatz, ist ein großer Busbahnhof der Kamera überwacht ist. Vom Orleansplatz aus gelangt man in wenigen Minuten ins Zentrum von Haidhausen. Im Bahnhofsgebäude findet man unter anderem einen Schnellimbiss, einen Kiosk und eine Zeitschriften und Bücherhandlung. Barrierefrei sind nur die S-Bahn Gleise.
