Psst! If, though, funds are truly depleted, check out the space behind American Airlines and in the airport’s landside area. This is a quiet spot and it’s free, but obviously lacking any hotel services. When the heating goes off, any requests to turn it on again will be politely, but firmly, refused. Those sweet dreams may be chilly.

Before deciding to try sleeping in the airport’s public areas, it’s well worth considering the great hotel options, some of which are just a short walk away. The Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, for instance, is part of the airport complex and is within easy walking distance of terminals. Then, there’s the Sheraton which is a bit further away, but offers a tempting outdoor pool and sun deck. There’s a free airport shuttle too; something that is also provided at the Sandman Hotel, and at many other hotels in the region.
