VitoshaSky (Sofia, Bulgaria)

The ski resort of Vitosha is located about 10km from Sofia city centre and is easily accessible by all forms of transport. The resort itself is 1800m above sea level and the highest peak of the mountain is called Cherni Vruh (2290m). The ski zones are to be found on its north facing slope, whilst the rock climbing walls are in its eastern part. The ski runs of Vitosha are varied and are suitable for skiers and boarders of any experience or level. There are thirteen different ski runs with varying degrees of difficulty and length. The longest is 3400m. The resort has eleven different lifts one of which is called Simeonovo-Aleko, this is covered with a capacity of 1500 people. There are two different zones. These are called Aleko and Koniarnika -Vetrovala. Aleko is the oldest and most popular zone in Bulgaria. It is 1800m above sea level and served from more than fifteen lifts. Koniarnika -Vetrovala and is 1507m above the sea level and has only one ski run , which is 2300m. The resort has snow between December and April and the duration of the skiing season is 120 days. The average temperature of the air is minus 6 °C. The resort offers good conditions for slalom and cross-country skiing. The home page has a map of the ski runs.
