The Winchester Mystery House is a 160-room Victorian mansion which was under construction for 38 years since 1884 purely for the sake of having building work done, so it features many peculiarities such as doors opening onto blank walls and stairways that lead to nowhere. Various tours are available, including a self-guided tour of the Victorian gardens, a guided behind-the-scenes tour which focuses on the architecture of the building and visits to the Winchester Firearms Museum and Antique Products Museum. There is limited wheelchair access to some of the sights and onsite facilities include a cafe and souvenir shop. Details of special events and tariffs are available at the website, as are the times of the various tours. The House is open daily between 09h00 and 17h00.
