Wollongong City Gallery is located in Wollongong’s city center. The gallery is a non profit organization established by the Society of Arts Illawarra in 1951. The first local gallery appeared in the 1970s, from 1978 the gallery has been headquartered on the corner of Burelli & Keira, where it remained during about 13 years, from 1991 the gallery was moved to a permanent location, where it is since then. The space presents several high level art exhibits as well as the work of local and regional artists. The place is open from 10 AM to 5 PM from Tuesday to Friday, from 12 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. The gallery is closed on Mondays, Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
