Positive Reviews

Friendly and knowledgeable hosts.

The reportedly friendly and knowledgeable brothers who run the place are said to be happy to impart local advice, including some excellent restaurant recommendations and also have tram tickets for sale at reception. Guests also said there was a relaxed atmosphere in the hotel thanks to them, and that they were made to feel very much at home.

Delicious buffet breakfast; comfy quarters.

Guests thought the buffet breakfast was very tasty, with lots of variety, cooked-to-order options and continental fare including fresh fruit on offer, in addition to a cosy little reception bar. Furthermore, they reported comfortable and clean rooms with all the necessary amenities, including a kettle to make your own tea and coffee, and free Wi-Fi.

Great for Ghent Central Station.

Carlton is said to be handy to the central Ghent Train Station — but quiet despite this — and close to trams running into the city centre, as well as some good pubs and dining spots.

Negative Reviews

A fair way from the old town on foot.

A small number of those who stayed at Carlton said it was a little too far from centre of Ghent’s old town to walk — about 25 to 30 minutes on foot. However, those who did not feel like stretching their legs were generally fine with taking the nearby tram.
