Aira Force is a waterfall in the Lake District near Ullswater. The falls are formed by the Aira Beck as it flows south towards Ullswater Lake. The 20m high waterfall is a well known beauty spot and can be reached by a footpath. At the top of the falls is a bridge which gives a view down the ravine.
The area around Ullswater Lake including Aira Force is owned by the National Trust. Prior to that it formed part of an estate around a hunting lodge, and the footpaths and the arboretum below the falls were laid out in the 19th century.
The National Trust has provided facilities including a car park, toilets and tea rooms open during the summer season. From the car park to the waterfall and back is about a two hour walk over relatively easy paths although some sections near the top are quite steep.
