Positive Reviews

Clean, comfortable rooms

Guests here have given great reports about the comfortable, cosy rooms which have a high standard of cleanliness. Although the rooms are slightly small and basic, given the fact that the building is old, rooms are clean and warm.

Great pub food

The inn serves classic pub food, which is reportedly excellent, well cooked, well presented and well served. Portions are generous. The steak sandwich is highly recommended and the steak in general is considered as the very best it can be. The breakfast is also appreciated.

Good staff

The staff here at the inn has been appreciated as being friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere of the hotel is considered to be very welcoming and this is attributed in no small way to the staff of the inn.

Negative Reviews

Refurbishment required

Although the guest rooms are quite clean and comfortable, a few of the guests have whispered that the decor is a little dated and that the inn could do with a refurbishment drive to update the look and also to give it back a sense of newness. Although the inn has many charming period features, there is a feeling that a renewal of decor and fixtures and fittings could enhance the charm and old-world look while maintaining a sense of modernity throughout.

Noisy rooms

The rooms on the front side of the house tend to pick up noise from the outside, which could be a problem for some guests. The trash collecting trucks roll by early in the morning as the inn is on a main route through the town.

Exposed pipes

Another minor complaint is that exposed water pipes in some of the rooms tend to make the rooms rather hotter than they should be.
