About Hotel Crooklands

Hotel Crooklands is a family run hotel set in a peaceful, rural location on the edge of the Lake District.

All rooms are en-suite and include desks, flat screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities and, while standard rooms are individually decorated with modern artwork, deluxe rooms add larger beds, bathrooms and easy chairs.

The hotel, a former farmhouse, has many character features such as open log fires and wooden beams. Free parking and Wi-Fi is available and there is also a lounge for guests.

The bar offers local real ales and hearty, home-cooked meals. Jules Restaurant offers local and international cuisine with daily specials in a modern environment and, in contrast, the Cottage Restaurant exudes old world charm and serves both lunch and afternoon tea.

Hotel Crooklands is four-miles from Kendal, one-mile from the M6 and a short drive from the Lancaster Canal.

Positive Reviews

Constant improvements.

Regular guests have noted that Crooklands is very clearly a family-run establishment and the owners frequently invest in their hotel. The refurbishment programme is an ongoing one and improvements are constantly being made.

Home from home.

Bedrooms are spacious, well-equipped and modern with excellent quality bedding and furnishings. Some reviewers even prefer the bathrooms at the hotel to their own; the powerful showers and deep baths are first class.

Plenty of choice.

With two restaurants and a bar serving meals, almost all palettes are catered for. Whether you wish to dine in the hustle and bustle of the bar, find a hidden nook in the Cottage restaurant or enjoy the modern surroundings of Jules Restaurant; the choice

Negative Reviews

Noisy neighbours.

One irritation for some is sound insulation, or rather, the lack of it. Guests have reported being able to hear their neighbours when the hotel is fully booked.

Poor Wi-Fi connection.

Wi-Fi is free but also reportedly slow and, in some parts of the hotel, non-existent. The hotel may well be able to advise which rooms are affected by the signal black-out prior to booking if Wi-Fi is essential for you. Apparently, high-speed internet is

Don't expect a room with a view.

Crooklands may be set in a rural location, but most rooms do not come with a view. Some look over the car park so, if the hotel is just somewhere to lay your head after a days walking, this shouldn't be a concern but, if you expect to spend a lot of time
