The elegant rooms have the light and bright décor typical of the seaside. They have the full suite of amenities ranging from flat screen TV’s to minibars and coffee makers. Most rooms have private balconies with gorgeous Caribbean views.

The resort has an incredible array of amenities; too many to possibly make full use of during just one vacation. The pool terrace is the primary focus, but guests also enjoy the private beach out front or relaxing in the tranquil spa.

With an incredible four restaurants and eight bars, you’ll definitely be spoiled for choice. There are both buffet and a la carte restaurants. During the day the beach bar is definitely the place to be.

Activities on offer range from water sports to beach volleyball.

Positive Reviews

Immaculately tended grounds

Many guests said that they were immediately struck, on arrival, by how lovely and well maintained the resort was. They felt that the grounds had a great design, and that they were maintained to an exceptionally high standard.

Great poolside BBQ

This was by far guest’s favorite dining experience at the resort. They mentioned that the pool terrace is a fantastic place in its own right, with plenty of seating and sun beds, but they especially enjoyed the alfresco BBQ meals often served at lunch time.

Adults only section

Guests mention being very happy with the adult’s only policy of the Don Pablo Collection part of the resort. It resulted in a less noisy and more sophisticated environment.

Negative Reviews

Terrible mosquito problem

This was by far the most common complaint. Guests conceded that they were in the tropics, and a few mosquitoes could be expected, but they mention not just a few, but swarms of them. Many felt that the hotel should do a better job controlling them in the surroundings and also provide mosquito nets and repellents.

Sea water is muddy

This was an extremely common complaint, and the factor that most detracted from guests tropical beach vacation fantasies. The resort is near the mouth of a major river and guests say this causes the water on the beach out front to be constantly muddy. Those looking for crystal clear tropical waters will have to travel some distance.

Food a bit disappointing

Many guests took issue with the food, saying that it seemed to let the resort down. The hotel has four restaurants, representing several international cuisines, but guests felt that they didn’t accurately represent the cuisine in question. Guests also felt that the food really wasn’t very good, even setting aside the question of authenticity.
