Old Town Lunenburg is one of Nova Scotia's prime tourist destinations. Not only is it extremely picturesque, but it has also been included on the UNESCO World Heritage list on the grounds of being “the best surviving example of a planned British colonial settlement in North America”.
Lunenburg was founded in 1753 and for over two hundred years, it has managed to keep its original (or original looking) wooden buildings as well as the grid layout. A Visitor Centre provides information and there are interpretative panels at various points in the town.
