Facilities include lounges and rooms capable of accommodating up to 1,000 guests for meetings, wedding receptions and social events. Paid parking is available and optional services via the 24-hour front desk include ironing, laundry, and luggage storage.

A buffet breakfast choices is served in the Alcazaba Restaurant. At dinner, Spanish cuisine and, in particular, dishes from this Extremadura region, are prominent in menu choices.

The busy railway station is approximately a five-minute cab ride from the hotel. It is two kilometres to the San Lázaro Aqueduct, which is part of Mérida's Roman archaeological site.

Positive Reviews

Rooms are roomy and comfortable

Guests find the rooms to be spacious and the beds very comfortable. The Wi-Fi, guests say, is surprisingly good, and rooms are well cleaned and maintained.

Good value

The general opinion is that the hotel is well-priced and represents good value. Bar prices and car parking fees are considered to be reasonable. All in all, visitors are happy with the value they receive here.

Excellent town square setting

The location is assessed as being as good as the hotel itself. It reportedly sits on the main square, and private transport is not typically required as the town is really very small. Guests find it is easy to walk to virtually anywhere.

Negative Reviews

Only OK for late dining

Dining times are a problem and it rankles with guests that the hotel does not even start serving dinner until late evening. Some guests try to overcome the problem by ordering room service, but this does not start until late evening either. Restaurants in the immediate vicinity are said to be few and far between, and they too are closed until later. Guests say that early dining in this area of Mérida is virtually impossible.

Language barriers

The lack of English disturbs some guests. The friendly staff members do their best, but it is difficult to create a dialogue. There are many maps and instructions about this historic area but, in the main, they are in Spanish. Also, there are reportedly no English-speaking news channels on the TVs in the rooms.

Noisy coaches

There is an element of noise which guests relate to the presence of coach parties. The hotel is obviously a hot-spot for coach guests visiting the town’s Roman sites, and guets note these can be boisterous and noisy.
