About Degas House

Situated in the Esplanade Ridge neighborhood of New Orleans, the Degas House is a lovely bed-and-breakfast housed in the former home of French impressionist painter Edgar Degas. The mansion listed on the National Register of Historic Places features individually decorated accommodations and nice amenities.

Well appointed rooms and suites feature distinctive details from antiques to artwork and Victorian clawfoot tubs in the bathrooms. All have Wi-Fi, TVs with cable, minifridges, iPod docking stations and air-conditioning, while some have balconies.

Guests of the Degas House enjoy a complimentary tour of the property led by an actual descendant of Degas. There’s also a French Quarter style courtyard, gift shop and museum.

Wonderful historic property with nice ambiance.

There were many favourable comments related to the fact that the property is historic. People generally enjoyed the ambiance of the old home and several said they found it a pleasure to look at the artistic paintings on-site courtesy of the informative tour provided. Several people also commented on the beautiful furnishings and lovely courtyard.

Lack of a lift may be troublesome.

There were some negative remarks about the lack of a lift. Several people complained about having to walk up a lot of steps, which may be an issue for guests with mobility issues or a lot of luggage in tow.
