This large, family-owned hotel is located right next to Ocean City's fine sandy beach. Al-fresco movie screenings, free kids' activities and an outdoor pool make Castle in the Sand an especially good choice for families.

The traditional guest rooms are simple yet comfortable with flat-screen TVs, minifridges, DVD players and coffeemakers all coming as standard. Suites feature separate lounge areas while upgraded accommodations boast balconies, ocean views and kitchenettes.

Along with the seasonal outdoor pool there is a beach volleyball court and an oceanfront patio area. Complementary Wi-Fi is accessible almost everywhere and on-site parking is provided free of charge. An elevator serves all floors.

Breakfasts are served at 'The Beach House Restaurant'. The 'Coconuts Beach Bar and Grill' proffers pub-style dining options and a full bar service as well as live music in the summer.

Midtown's shops and restaurants are a five-minute walk from Castle in the Sand.

Positive Reviews

Outdoor pool is fantastic.

The hotel's 25 meter Olympic swimming pool is the largest pool in Ocean City. The fact that it is staffed by Red Cross Lifeguards and has a proper diving board ensures it is always a big hit with everyone who stays here.

Wonderful location.

With the beach no more than a few steps from the hotel's back door and the shops and restaurants of midtown just a brief walk away, this hotel's location is about as central and convenient as you can get.

Plenty of things to keep kids occupied

Alongside the large outdoor pool, Castle in the Sand has clowns, pirate acts, free activity clubs and even outdoor Disney movie screenings (with free popcorn) in the evenings. If you have little ones who need occupying then this is definitely a suitable place to come!

Negative Reviews

Accommodations look a little dated.

Many guests have commented on how dated some of the traditionally decorated rooms look. Whilst this isn't necessarily a bad thing, you can't help but feel a little touch-up here and there would be highly beneficial.

Parking is a little tight.

The hotel's parking lot isn't very large so you may well find it hard to get a decent spot during busy periods. Indeed you may even have to park a few blocks away when the hotel is full.

Some rooms are blighted with traffic noise.

Some guests have noted that visitors staying in those accommodations closest to the main road are likely to be disturbed by traffic noise. If you're a light sleeper then pack some ear plugs, just in case..
