About Kerinci Seblat National Park

Kerinci Seblat National Park is Sumatras largest national park, spreading across four provinces. There are more than 4,000 plant species in the park,some of which are endangered, and endemic species like giant flowers, Dead Flower (Amorphophallus titanum) and Rafflesia Flower (Rafflesia arnoldi).

The landscape in the park is diverse, dominated by volcanic cones, and includes the highest peak in western Indonesia, Mount Kerinci. Lake Kerinci is the best place to see 129 species of birds. Gunung Tujuh Lake is not only surrounded by seven mountains but also the highest volcanic lake in Sumatra. The park is also the habitat of numerous animal species, some of them highly endangered, especially animals such as the Sumatera Rhinoceros, Wild Mountain Goat, Sumatran Tiger and Sumatran Elephant.

Kerinci Seblat National Park is, as a part of the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra, listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
