Positive Reviews

Excellent, quiet location.

The Old Pier guest house offers visitors traditional accommodation in a quite location west of the Plymouth Hoe and within easy reach of the Plymouth ferry. Other nearby attractions include Plymouth Shopping Centre and the Barbican, both of which are within easy walking distance of the accommodation.

Basic rooms at good rates.

The guest house offers basic rooms at good rates. The rooms are furnished in a traditional style with comfortable furnishings and a few room amenities to make the stay more enjoyable. Room amenities include satellite (digital) TV and a kettle with free tea and coffee making supplies. Wi-Fi connectivity is also available.

Close to major points of interest.

The property is well-situated to provide relatively easy access to all major pints of interest in Plymouth including Plymouth Dome, the National Marine Aquarium, Smeaton’s Tower, the Barbican and Plymouth Sound.

Negative Reviews

Full breakfast costs extra.

The guest house offers a number of breakfast options including a full continental option, vegetarian options and even a breakfast smoothie option. Guests who enjoy the more traditional full English breakfast spread will, however, have to pay extra.

Very small en-suite facilities.

Taller or larger guests may need to be aware that the en-suite private bathroom facilities to most of the rooms are very small. With very small shower cubicles and cramped arrangements between the shower stall, toilet and basin, could be quite an awkward and uncomfortable experience.

Guests required to remove shoes on arrival.

Perhaps a rather strange house rule of this particular guest house, guests are required to remove their shoes upon arrival at the front door. This could prove to be a rather tiresome or awkward encounter, particularly as there is no warning and guests who have travelled far must still remove shoes before gaining access to their room.
