    Review Highlights
    Positive Reviews
    • An ideal location

Guests rave about the hotel's central location, noting that the Saturday Market, Portlandia, and the river are all within a comfortable walk and, with the light rail station just a few blocks away, it is as easy to get to many more of the city's attractions.

    • Very roomy, tastefully decorated rooms

Formerly the Multnomah Hotel, the Embassy Suites Portland-Downtown is a beautifully preserved, circa-1912 building. Few guests fail to comment on the impressive lobby with its massive marble columns and period decor, and most are equally impressed by the more modern guest rooms and suites. Families, couples, and groups particularly appreciate the two-room layout, which allows early birds and night owls to maintain their schedules without disturbing each other.

    • Compliments to the chef

Most guests thoroughly enjoy the complimentary breakfast buffet, noting that its impressive variety of hot and cold options includes made-to-order omelets. Many guests also look forward to the generous Evening Reception and comment that it occasionally features a S'Mores station. The bartenders and wait staff receive high marks for friendly, professional service.

    Negative Reviews
    • Do keep your voice down..

Not uncommon in buildings over 100 years old, the walls seem to be a bit thin and not particularly well insulated by modern standards, so some guests have found it noisy.

    • Get up early for breakfast..

Several guests have described the breakfast buffet scene as a "mad house" during prime times, citing up to 30-minute waits for the made-to-order omelets and frequent shortages of the most popular items despite the staff's best efforts. Those who like to sleep in might have a more relaxing experience at the nearby Voodoo Doughnuts or Stumptown.

    • The downside of downtown..

Though many guests find the downtown location very convenient, others are put off by the hotel's proximity to homeless shelters.
