Excellent location a short stroll from town centre

Travellers loved the way they could easily walk to Portree town centre for shops, supermarkets, amenities and dining options. Motorists appreciated the free parking outside and direct access to the A855 and A87 as they could easily reach island beauty spots, outdoor pursuits, attractions and transport links for onward travel to the Outer Hebrides and mainland. The location was also popular with lovers of the great outdoors as the Cuillin Mountains - a paradise for walkers and climbers - were just a short drive away.

Friendly service and tasty breakfasts

The breakfast options were reportedly reasonably-priced and delicious. Guests also said they enjoyed a warm welcome from friendly, knowledgeable and obliging hosts who created an inviting and relaxed atmosphere.

Negative Reviews

Critics claimed some rooms had flaws

Several critics felt certain rooms were fairly small, especially when fully occupied. There were also claims that some of the en suite bathrooms could have had a more user-friendly layout. Some guests commented that they found certain beds uncomfortable.

Minor cleanliness and maintenance grumbles

Some travellers had minor cleanliness grumbles such as build-ups of dust in certain rooms plus inconsistent housekeeping standards. Draughty windows, aging mattresses and tired-looking carpets were among the maintenance issues reported by some visitors from time to time.

Occasional reports of noise

Although most guests said they found the guest house to be tranquil, noise from adjacent rooms occasionally disturbed some light sleepers.
