About Odinn Reykjavik Apartments

Guesthouse Odinn Reykjavik Apartments provides accommodation in the heart of Reykjavik; the world’s most northerly capital city. Reykjavik translates to ‘Smokey Bay’ and is a reference to the steam rising from Iceland’s world-famous hot springs.

Room and suite choices are offered at Guesthouse Odinn Reykjavik Apartments. They are clean, bright and cheerful. Wi-Fi is free throughout the building; bathroom facilities are shared with other guests.

There is a small reception area where detail is displayed relating to activities and places of interest.

Guests congregate in the shared kitchen where, for much of the year, they may prepare their own breakfast. Coffee is always available and the main shopping street is a few minutes’ walk away.

City attractions include Hallgrímskirkja Church and Harpa Concert Hall & Conference Centre. Both are within a few hundred yards of the property. From Reykjavik, excursions include the Northern Lights, whale and dolphin-watching, Blue Lagoon … and Viking horse-riding!

Positive Reviews

Pleasant hosts and free breakfast

The friendly, helpful and hospitable hosts reportedly offered a warm welcome and had lots of local knowledge to share. The self-service buffet breakfast was reportedly a simple affair but many guests appreciated it nonetheless.

Popular location in Reykjavik city centre

The heart of charismatic downtown Reykjavik was just a short walk away from this townhouse turned bed and breakfast. Guests loved the way they could easily walk to museums, parks, nightlife and dining options, cafes, bars and the harbour. The Laugavegur main shopping street was also nearby as was the iconic Hallgrimskirkja church. Drivers appreciated the availability of public parking. Non-drivers welcomed the proximity of bus stops.

Clean rooms and shared facilities praised

According to many travellers, this accommodation was clean and well-kept. Guests appreciated the choice of rooms or apartments, often praising the bright decor, wooden flooring and reliable free Wi-Fi. Shared amenities like the communal kitchen and inviting outdoor terrace also proved popular. There was also praise for the pleasant city views on offer from several rooms. Budget-minded travellers often felt the room rates were comparatively affordable for the pricey city centre, adding that they got fair bang for their buck.

Negative Reviews

Nuisance noise reported

Light sleepers in several rooms facing the road mentioned that they were disturbed by occasional street noise, especially at the weekends when Reykjavik's clubbing crowd was letting its hair down.

No card payments

Some guests unprepared for paying in cash occasionally found themselves hunting for cash machines in order to get enough local currency to settle their bills.

Claims of drawbacks in certain rooms

Some critics claimed the smallest rooms were a little too petite for their liking. Others were disappointed that certain rooms had no en suite bathroom facilities. Instead, they had to make do with shared bathrooms.
