About Starhotels Hotel d'Inghilterra Roma

One of Rome’s iconic luxury hotels, the d’Inghiterra has hosted the who’s who of the literary world since Byron and Keats made it their Roman base. It looks out over the Spanish Steps, and is just moments from the luxury boutiques of the Via Condotti.

The exquisite rooms are individually decorated, and feature antique furniture and luxury fabrics. All the modern conveniences are included, but are as unobtrusive as they can possibly be.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, but the main focus is more old-fashioned service, and guests should speak to the concierge should they need anything at all.

The Café Romano is a great in-house dining choice and the Bond Bar adds a bit of glamour and intrigue in a sophisticated setting.

The d’Inghilterra really couldn't be more central. The Vatican, Coliseum and Forum are all less than two miles away.

Positive Reviews

Refined and elegant interior

While there are some comments about the rooms being ever so slightly shabby, most guests love the antique furniture and old fashioned classical styling. The décor and atmosphere of the public areas are also praised as creating a sophisticated oasis in the centre of Rome with a sense of history.

Best possible location

The hotel is just steps from Rome's social hub, the Spanish Steps, and also the luxury boutiques of the Via Condotti. Guests cannot think of a better possible location, and are happy to have their hotel so close by that they can pop back for a quick breather every now and then when out sightseeing.

Amazing concierge

Several guests mention the concierge by name, and that he was unfailingly professional, and immensely helpful.

Negative Reviews

Some doubt surrounding its five star rating

More than just a few guests feel that the d'Inghilterra does not fully deserve its five star rating. The reasons are varied, but the majority mention that the antique furniture and décor is just a bit too shabby here and there for a top luxury hotel.

Some rooms are dark and have a poor outlook

Guests in rooms facing the rear of the hotel mention that they are quite gloomy during the day, with little natural light reaching them, and have poor views of the alleyway or office buildings. Noise in the morning, when the rubbish is picked up, is also an issue in these rooms.

Poor Wi-Fi

A common refrain in hotels, but guests felt that a top luxury hotel should not be offering a slow and spotty Wi-Fi service. Hotel management have stated that they are looking into improving the system, but dates for a new and improved installation have not been disclosed.
