In San Diego's Old Town Park, visitors are welcome to re-live the Mexican and early American beginnings of the city. In the Park several old buildings can be found that reflect this period, including a school, blacksmith, the first newspaper office of San Diego and a stable including a collection of carriages . A museum that exhibits artifacts of the period can be found in the Casa de Machado y Stewart.
As further amenities the park offers some shops, restaurants, toilets, a visitor centre and picnic area. There is the possibility to take a guided tour and exhibitions and programmes are being held throughout the year on varying topics.
The Park is open daily from 10am to 5 pm, admission is free
