Cedar Point is One of the USA’s Favourite Amusement Parks
Grab your Cedar Point tickets and head for the southern shores of Lake Erie to enjoy one of the best-loved amusement parks in Ohio. This legendary theme park located on a peninsula in the lake just outside Sandusky city first opened in 1870 and continues to delight thrill-seeking visitors to this day. The park features dozens of rides, including 17 roller coasters that hold a string of world records for top speeds, drop heights and track lengths. Once you’re done riding Cedar Point’s high-octane rides and roller coasters, you can discover a diverse range of things to do in Sandusky and the surrounding region of northern Ohio. But if you need several days to satisfy your hunger for riding roller coasters you can stay at one of Cedar Point’s on-site hotels or try one of the many hotels near Cedar Point.
Cedar Point Opens all Summer Long
Award-winning Cedar Point opens its doors during the summer months only. Between May and October you can enjoy the main amusement park. However, the Cedar Point Shores Water Park, which lies on the same site, opens between May and September only. Current roller coaster highlights among the numerous rides at Cedar Point include the towering Steel Vengeance, which reaches a top speed of 74 miles per hour and set ten world records when it opened in 2018, and the Top Thrill Dragster, which reaches a top speed of 120 miles per hour from a standing start in less than four seconds.
There are many more seasonal activities to enjoy in the area once you’ve finished riding the Cedar Point roller coasters. Between May and August you can join Ohioans and visitors alike and take to the waters of Lake Erie on ferries to travel to islands just north of Sandusky. Destinations like Kelleys Island and South Bass Island are popular haunts for summer festivals, picnics and outdoor recreation.
