Positive Reviews

Yeats Didn’t Sleep Here.

Although it’s unlikely that Yeat’s slept at the Sligo City Hotel, the views of Benbulben and Knocknarea that inspired his work also pleased guests. They thought the family run hotel embodied the charm of Sligo Town and liked the traditional Irish feel of the hotel, the clean and comfortable rooms and accommodating and personable staff. Yeats would probably have enjoyed the full Irish breakfast every bit as much as the guests did.

Well Located.

Guests enjoyed the convenience of the Sligo City Hotel, right in the heart of Sligo and close to shops and attractions and found it a great base for exploring the city.

Cheers For Eugene.

Guests thought that Eugene the hotel barman exemplified Irish charm and hospitality and called him an asset to the establishment. They loved the food, especially the fish and chips, and enjoyed the great crack in the bar.

Negative Reviews

Time For An Update?.

Guests noted a variety of problems including disappointing breakfasts, small guest rooms, old fashioned showers and even more old fashioned TV sets. Some complained about mould in the bathroom, others thought the decor seemed dated and uninspired. For most guests, these problems were minor and would not prevent them from returning to the Sligo City Hotel.

Parking Problems.

Guests found the Sligo City Hotel’s free parking a bit of a problem. They noted that the lot was usually full which meant they had to park in a public lot and go back and forth to feed the meters. Guests felt that the extremely limited parking should have been clearly noted the hotel’s description

Rowdy Crowds.

Noise from the downstairs bar, especially on weekends, was a problem for guests in the rooms above. Fire alarms, set off by revelers, didn’t help matters. Other guests were awakened by the cleaning staff in the corridors.
