About Stornoway Harbour

Stornoway Harbour is located at the town of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. It serves as the primary port for the Outer Hebrides (or Western Islands) and includes facilities for a fishing fleet, pleasure craft, commercial shipping, a ferry terminal, the Coastguard's Maritime Rescue Centre, a lifeboat station, and a shipyard. A small lighthouse and renewable energy facilities are located at the mouth of the harbour on Amish Point. The working piers blend directly into the town's harbourfront and historic centre, which together comprise a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, lodgings, civil and cultural institutions, and private residences. Stornoway Harbour also serves as a backdrop for local and regional events--including tall ships races, the Hebridean Maritime Festival, the Hebridean Celtic Festival, sailing competitions, and fishing competitions. Access to most areas of the harbour is unrestricted and free, but visitors should look for and comply with posted warnings. Parking is available.
