Elianthes Guest House

Elianthe’s Guesthouse (Battenburg House Anno 1850) is in the heart of Swellendam, third oldest town of South Africa. Situated close to many restaurants and attractions, here guests can experience the beautiful town with its historic buildings, blue mountains and old oak trees. There is much to do in and around town. Close by is the Fairy Sanctuary and the Museum. Nature lovers can go hiking/biking in the Langeberg Mountains or visit Bontebok National Park. Adventurers can join Felix Unite for River Adventures. Elianthes is also centrally located close to towns such as Malgas (with a working pontoon ferry), Cape Agulhas (most southern point of Africa), Barrydale and Witsand (whale whatching).

This 180 year old Victorian house has been renovated, but has kept much of its former historic character. Surviving the horrific fire of 1865, this is truly one of the few national monuments of the town and a perfect country retreat.

Elianthe’s Guesthouse is a lovely Victorian styled building. The clean fresh air of our beautiful surrounds will ensure a well rested body and mind. Guests can lounge at the pool area, relax under the trees, canopies, umbrellas or one of the many quiet spots on the front terrace and in the spacious garden.

Elianthes focuses on detail, to make guests feel comfortable and at home. Each one of the 6 en-suite rooms is decorated with care. The atmosphere is warm and hospitable. Each room is tastefully decorated with a bit of country, modern and French flair. The beds are all covered with white linen of good quality. Two of the rooms have single beds, that can be pushed together to form a king size bed; Two with double beds; one with a king size four poster bed and the family room with one double bed and two twin beds and fridge and microwave facility. Most of the rooms have access to the garden or terrace.

Breakfast is served in the cozy dining room with views of the main road and a fireplace during colder weathers. Warmer months, one can even enjoy breakfast on the front terrace. A traditional warm breakfast is served, as well as a variety of cereals, yoghurts, fresh seasonal fruits and breads. Breakfast hours are setup to adhere to the business traveler or holiday guests.
