Positive Reviews

Fancy a Pokie?

If not Australian, you may be disappointed to learn that the term ‘pokie’ applies to the hotel’s very popular Poker lounge. ‘Pokies’ is only part of the fun here. The bars feature beer on tap and lots of choice. From the visitors’ angle, it’s a great and easy way to integrate and enjoy the company of locals.

Rooms are basic but clean.

Unlike many, more expensive hotels; the TV works fine, so does the air conditioning – and towels and bed linen are very clean. Water pressure is great for the shower and breakfast is good.

Good value and location.

The food, generally, is good and reasonably priced. Can’t fault the location either – close to the Esplanade, restaurants and shops. It’s not perfect by any means – but, come on … just take a look at the price! Great value.

Negative Reviews

A racing certainty … for road noise.

Apart from normal traffic noise, the street is used as a racetrack throughout the night. Not conducive to a good night’s sleep … or any sleep at all. Unruly kids only serve to add to the problem.

Room deficiencies.

Rooms have a distinct lack of storage space for clothes etc. They smell of cigarettes and are musty – as if this is the first time in ages that they’ve been opened up.

Things that are missing … and those that aren’t!

It seems that Wi-Fi hasn’t reached these parts yet and if an addict, this is something you’ll miss. There’s not much choice with the TV channels. Not surprising, given the location, but ants are thriving.
